Edward with his wife, Rachel, and their children

Edward with his wife, Rachel, and their children

After killing a man during an armed robbery, Edward Salazar Mauricio knew he might face the electric chair in Texas, a state that often wields the sword of justice with finality. By God’s grace he received a life sentence, but he hated and even viciously attacked Christians who attempted to witness to him in his prison cell.

Eventually, however, the power of God’s Word penetrated his heart and brought changes he could never have imagined.

By Mark Ellis

Dr. Harold Sala

Dr. Harold Sala

Dr. Harold Sala has been a purveyor of God’s truth and wisdom in easily accessible, bite-sized morsels for decades. In fact, the ministry he and his wife Darlene launched, Guidelines International Ministries, is celebrating their 50th anniversary this year.

The idea for his new book, What You Need to Know about Healing (B & H Publishing Group), began with a request from a remarkable nurse in Kenya known as Sister Freda, who oversees a 32-bed hospital and nursing school established with help from Guidelines. Sister Freda asked if Dr. Sala could write something that would address a biblical view of healing for use in her school’s curriculum.

Miracles abound in Rajasthan as Jesus’ living water cleanses souls

By Mark Ellis

Pastor Promod Patel

Christians make up less than one percent of the population in Rajasthan, the largest state in India, which borders Pakistan to the west. There are few Christians amid the oldest civilization on the Indian subcontinent, but God is moving in powerful ways that sometimes resemble the Book of Acts.

Angels rescued mechanic crushed by truck axle

By Mark Ellis

Bruce Van Natta

He was underneath a Peterbilt logging truck’s engine when the jack gave way, and 10,000 pounds crushed his body to within an inch of the cement floor. In his near-fatal experience he watched two angels tend to his body as he miraculously came back from the edge of death.

“I traveled around Wisconsin doing on-site repairs on diesel engines,” says Bruce Van Natta, 42. On a mild fall day, he had fixed the coolant leak on the mammoth logging truck, put his tools away and was ready to leave, when the truck’s driver asked him to look at one more thing.

Doctor testifies to miracle baby raised from the dead

By Dan Wooding

Dr. Marta Martínez is a respected doctor from Montevideo, Uruguay, who believes that God still heals the sick today.

And she should know, for in an interview, Dr. Martinez told me about an extraordinary miracle that she witnessed and was personally involved with.

“I experienced this miracle some years ago, while I was working in a hospital in one small city, far from the capital city,” she said. “It concerned a baby who was about one month old and his mother was an adolescent and very poor.
